Good News Blog
My friend Rose McKesson, a mighty smart woman responsible for the Vela Kurv series of books and scifi adventures www.velakurv.com, has been encouraging me to start my own blog. Of course my excuse was always “I don’t have time.” But then I realized if I blogged about something I liked, like Rose blogs about sci fi, it wouldn’t be hard to devote my energy to a few occasional words on the Internet. Now I had to decide what subject would hold my interest 24/7. I have a lot of interests but what would others like to see? What is going to get me noticed in the WSJ? I like sushi. I like jazz. I’m a nut for photography. Then I saw a post on Facebook from my friend Sarah Cruz in New Jersey who runs a training program for after-school professionals and volunteers. Her group has created a statewide network for after-school professionals through county volunteer representatives. The goal is to share valuable resources and ideas, and most of all provide training. You can read all about her work at the New Jersey School-Age Care Coalition in this article http://www.philly.com/community/archives/features/90368449.html. This bit of good and encouraging news about a program that may have statewide implications is an inspiration to others. Sarah Cruz, you are amazing for the work you do. I wanted to share your story with others. So the proverbial light bulb illuminated and I knew I wanted to blog about good news. I want to share stories about good work. And I want to encourage my readers to share their stories here, too. So you’ll read about good things here on my blog. Come back often. Post often. Have some good news with your sushi.
